Embryo

Embryo
"I began writing this song on my windowsill in Brooklyn, while reflecting on the cycle of human life. It became a song about life as I see it, pure and complex." -MZ

Once I was an embryo
My spirit-sucking body grew
Lights came up through eyes in me
Through eyes insane I still could see

So it went from day to day
Trapped in a world of sight
Not understanding pain
But understanding time

Chorus:
We're smarter than we know
Repressing as we grow
Waiting for our time to come

Now my body grows, it grows on me
I can use it like the rest
Feeling things yet losing touch
With what I used to be

But I can dream and through them see
The height of day in dead of night
Exhausting possibilities
Seperating wrong from right

Chorus

Bridge:
Human form never formed nevermind
Go to work, stay asleep, go to bed
Never think what was not seen or said
Go to work, stay asleep, go to bed

Now my body grows away from me
I don't use it like the rest
My mind is opening to me
My soul-absorbing Universe

Give me just a second now
To feel the chains fall around
Feeling I'm expanse,expanse
With what I used to be...
